Classic Banana Cake Recipe by Mary Berry

Ingredients:

3 ripe bananas
175g self-raising flour
175g caster sugar
175g softened butter
3 eggs
1 tsp baking powder
1 tsp vanilla extract

Steps:

Preheat the oven to 180°C (160°C fan).
Mash the bananas in a bowl with a fork.
In a separate bowl, cream together the butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
Beat in the eggs, one at a time, adding a spoonful of flour with each egg.
Fold in the mashed bananas, vanilla extract, and remaining flour and baking powder.
Pour the mixture into a greased and lined cake tin.

Chocolate Swirl Banana Cake Recipe by Mary Berry

Ingredients:

3 ripe bananas
175g self-raising flour
175g caster sugar
175g softened butter
3 eggs
1 tsp baking powder
1 tsp vanilla extract
100g dark chocolate, melted

Steps:

Follow the same steps as the classic banana cake recipe, adding the melted chocolate to the cake batter before pouring it into the tin.
Use a skewer to swirl the chocolate into the batter for a marbled effect.
Bake as directed in the classic recipe.
