Classic Rava Idli Recipe

Ingredients:

1 cup rava (semolina)
1 cup yogurt
1/2 cup water
1 tsp mustard seeds
1 tsp urad dal
1 tsp chana dal
1/4 tsp asafoetida
1 green chili, chopped
A handful of chopped coriander leaves
Salt to taste
1 tbsp oil

Steps:

Heat oil in a pan and add mustard seeds, urad dal, and chana dal. Sauté until the dals turn golden brown.
Add asafoetida, green chili, and rava. Roast the rava until it turns aromatic.
In a bowl, mix yogurt, water, and salt. Add this mixture to the roasted rava and mix well to form a batter. Let it rest for 15-20 minutes.
Grease the idli molds with oil and pour the batter into them.
Steam the idlis for 10-12 minutes or until a toothpick inserted comes out clean.

4 Rava idlis, crumbled
1 onion, chopped
1 tomato, chopped
1 green chili, chopped
1/4 tsp turmeric powder
1/2 tsp mustard seeds
A handful of curry leaves
2 tbsp oil
Salt to taste

Steps:

Heat oil in a pan and add mustard seeds. Once they splutter, add curry leaves, green chili, and onion. Sauté until the onions turn translucent.
Add tomatoes, turmeric powder, and salt. Cook until the tomatoes turn mushy.
Add the crumbled Rava idlis and mix well to combine all the ingredients.
Cover and cook for 5-7 minutes on low heat, stirring occasionally.
Garnish with chopped coriander leaves and serve hot as a delicious breakfast or snack.

Ingredients:

4 Rava idlis, cubed
1 onion, sliced
1 tomato, chopped
1/2 bell pepper, sliced
1/2 cup mixed vegetables (carrots, peas, beans)
1/2 tsp biryani masala
1/4 tsp turmeric powder
1/2 tsp cumin seeds
2 tbsp ghee
Salt to taste

Steps:

Heat ghee in a pan and add cumin seeds. Once they splutter, add onion and sauté until golden brown.
Add tomatoes, turmeric powder, biryani masala, and salt. Cook until the tomatoes turn mushy.
Add mixed vegetables and bell pepper. Cook for a few minutes until they are slightly tender.
Add the cubed Rava idlis and mix gently to coat them with the masala.
Cover and cook for 5-7 minutes on low heat until the flavors are well combined.
Garnish with chopped coriander leaves and serve hot as a delicious and innovative Rava idli biryani.
